Effective October 4, 2026.
The currently published Google Play version (1.1.3) is ad-free. The advertising sections below apply only to versions in which advertising is enabled.
The app stores watchlists, ticker order, selected watchlist, theme, tutorial status, and cached market data on your device. If you choose Google sign-in, Stockwatcher receives a stable Google account identifier, verified email address, display name, and a profile-picture URL when Google supplies one. The service stores the minimum identity and session information needed to authenticate you. Cloud sync stores custom watchlist names and identifiers, followed ticker symbols and their order, active watchlist selection, and theme; it does not store quote or chart caches.
Stockwatcher uses this data to authenticate you, synchronize your devices, secure the service, troubleshoot failures, and provide the features you request. The service uses pseudonymous IP-based rate-limit identifiers to prevent abuse. StockWatcher does not send your sign-in profile or cloud watchlists to AdMob as custom advertising targeting data. Advertising-related processing is described separately below. We do not use your information to make lending, insurance, employment, or investment decisions.
To deliver quotes, search results, and charts, the app sends Yahoo Finance the ticker symbols and search text you request, selected chart ranges, and related request activity. Like any direct internet request, Yahoo receives your IP address and technical request information. Yahoo states that it may treat an IP address as a technical identifier, infer an approximate location from it, retain related activity, and use this information for service functionality, analytics and product improvement, security and fraud prevention, personalization, and advertising. Stockwatcher does not request Android location permission, the Android Advertising ID, or another hardware identifier for this integration. See the Yahoo Privacy Policy, Technical Identifiers notice, and Location notice.
Google processes sign-in information only when you elect to sign in. Stockwatcher does not receive your Google password or access Google Drive, Gmail, contacts, or financial accounts. See the Google Privacy Policy.
Advertising-enabled versions use Google AdMob to show banners at the bottom of the watchlist and ticker chart screens. The ad-free version 1.1.3 does not display ads. When advertising is enabled, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and share your IP address (which can indicate approximate location), Android Advertising ID, app set ID and, where applicable, identifiers associated with signed-in accounts on the device; app and ad interactions; and diagnostic and performance information. Google and advertising partners process this information to deliver and personalize ads, measure performance, analyze usage, and prevent fraud and abuse. Personalized ads may use past activity and inferred interests, subject to your privacy choices and applicable requirements. Google and its partners handle and retain their data under their own privacy practices; see the Google Privacy Policy and the partner information in the privacy message. Yahoo market-data processing described above is separate. Subscription-enabled versions offer an optional annual ad-free Google Play subscription. Google processes payment and retains purchase records under its own policies; StockWatcher does not receive card details. The app stores purchase receipts and short-lived verified subscription status in encrypted device storage. It sends the receipt to the StockWatcher verification service over HTTPS; the service checks the configured product and yearly plan with Google Play and acknowledges valid purchases, without storing raw receipts or linking them to a StockWatcher account. Verification requests use pseudonymous abuse-prevention identifiers. Status is refreshed at startup, on resume, after purchase or restoration, and periodically while the app is open. Offline paid eligibility lasts at most one hour after verification and never beyond the paid-through expiry; an unknown result suppresses ads but does not grant a paid subscription. Deleting your StockWatcher account does not cancel a Google Play subscription or erase purchase records Google retains. Manage or cancel in Google Play.
Advertising-enabled versions contact Google through its User Messaging Platform to update consent information before deciding whether ads may be requested. Consent preferences are stored on your device. Where required, a privacy message lets you accept, refuse, or manage data use before ads are requested. You can reopen Settings > Privacy choices whenever that option is available. Core watchlist features do not require agreeing to personalized ads. Rejecting personalization may still allow non-personalized or limited ads; it does not necessarily stop all advertising-related data processing. In applicable US states, the privacy choices include opting out of sale or sharing as those terms are defined by local law. You can also reset or delete your Advertising ID in Android settings. Signing out of StockWatcher does not reset advertising choices.
You can use the app without signing in, sign out, or clear local Android app data. You can permanently delete the cloud account and synchronized watchlists in the app or at Delete account. Data is removed from the active service immediately. A pseudonymous deletion receipt supports safe retry after a lost response; its standard retention setting is 30 days, the server restricts that setting to 15-90 days, and scheduled cleanup removes expired receipts. Access-restricted disaster-recovery backups may retain deleted records for up to 15 days, then rotate out. Current operations prohibit restoring such a backup into the live service. StockWatcher account deletion does not delete your Google account or data that Google or Yahoo independently retains under its own privacy practices; use those providers' privacy controls for that data.
StockWatcher is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed to children. Do not use the cloud service if local law does not permit you to consent to this processing.
We use encrypted transport, isolated service credentials, access controls, disabled request access logging, and operational error logs that exclude request bodies, credentials, email addresses, and Google identity values. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Material changes will update the effective date.
